Protein, an important ingredient for good health.

My Grandmother used to say, “Good health comes through the stomach”. I couldn’t agree more. But in grandma’s time we ate good unprocessed food, devoid of pesticides and harmful additives. Today, these are hard to avoid, unless we buy organics or grow our own veggies. Nobody then would have heard the word protein. Today we are better informed and most people know that we should have protein in our diet, but don’t really know what it is or why we need it.

Here is a short explanation by Jessica Migala of the power of protein. The difference between a snack that has staying power and one that leaves you hungry an hour later? Protein. This nutrient is a hunger-busting powerhouse because it slows digestion and keeps blood sugar steady, and research shows protein helps keep cravings at bay.  Is it possible to live without protein? What happens when there is too much or too little protein in the body? What is the best fish protein and what cheese? What differs animal protein from vegetable protein? And, is the protein in eggs the best quality of protein?

1. Protein is a core building block for the trillions of cells in the human body. Without protein, no life could exist. The only material which is more common in the body than protein is water. 18%-20% of the body is protein.

2. The human body has about 100,000 different types of protein. The body needs them to grow, heal and sustain all the body's chemical reactions.

3. The word protein is derived from the Greek word - proteios meaning "first".

4. Proteins in the body come in many shapes and sizes. Simple proteins look like "little trains" with a lot of cars. Each "car" or such protein unit, is called an amino acid. What is common to all the different types of proteins in the body is that they are all complex chemicals made from over 20 different types of amino acids.

5. While beef is a much more popular meat than chicken, the protein content is lower than that found in chicken meat.

6. Excess protein can also cause weight gain.

7. In 2010, the athlete Ben Pearson, then 20, increased his protein intake to increase muscle size. However, he did not know he had a rare genetic disorder that prevented his body from breaking down proteins. High levels of protein in his body caused increased production of ammonia in the blood, causing the brain to swell and tragically, caused Pearson's death.

8. Hair is composed of insoluble fibrous and non-digested protein called keratin. Keratin protein appears in the form of a coil and a creates the horned tissue of the body, such as nails and hair. Curtin has sulfur bonds that make hair curly. The more sulphur ties, the more curly hair.

9. Proteins, like carbohydrates and fats, are considered one of the major nutrients, this is because they provide energy (calories) to the body. While proteins and carbohydrates provide 4 calories per gram, fat provides 9 calories per gram. The only other substance that provides calories is alcohol. However, it is not considered one of the major nutrition sources of the food because it is not nutritious and people do not need it to survive.

10. Proteins present in certain foods can cause allergies, because the structure of the protein may trigger an immune response. For example: Many people are allergic to gluten, a protein found mainly in cereal.

11. Of all the types of cheese, Parmesan cheese that is low in sodium contains the most protein - 41.6 grams per serving of 100 grams.
12. Of fish, yellow tuna contains the most protein (30 grams per serving of 100 grams). After it on the list: anchovies (29 gr), salmon (27 g), halibut (27 g) and tilapia (26 grams).

13. The older and bigger a legume, so the amount of protein in it is larger. Of legumes, roasted and fully matured soybean seeds and adults contain the largest amount of protein - 39.6 grams per 100 grams.

14. Pumpkin seeds provide 33 grams of protein per serving of 100 grams, while watermelon seeds provide a little less than 28 grams per 100 grams.

15. Too much protein can be dangerous to the body. For example, high levels of protein can create a strain on the liver and kidneys and cause them to work extra hard to dismantle and dispose of the extra protein.

16. One of the smallest countries in the world, Luxembourg, is one of the largest meat-eating countries in the world. In Luxembourg, each resident can average about -136 kg per year. In second place are Americans with an annual average of 125 kg per person, and Austria comes in at third place with an average annual consumption of 120 kg of animal protein.

17. Although the population in India exceeds a billion, it is considered the country with the lowest meat consumption, with an average of 3 pounds of meat per person. In second place, Bangladesh with an average of 4 kg of meat per person and in third place, the Democratic Republic of Congo with an average Annual of 5 kg of meat per person.

18. The protein in eggs is considered the highest quality protein of all foods.

19. In the past, cow protein was considered the most eaten animal protein, today it is the pig.

20. Researchers found that certain mutations in protein may increase the risk of autism. Specifically, when a protein called Shank3 mutates, it can cause a disruption in the connections between neurons, which affects the chances of autism.

21. Without the protein called albumin, the entire human body would be swollen from liquids.  Low levels of albumin are found in patients with over-hydration (pathological accumulation of water), in people with extensive burns, kidney disease, problems absorbing food and people suffering from malnutrition. In third world countries - protein diet and lack of food are common problems that cause the swelling of the abdomen from the absence of albumin and osmotic imbalance of body fluids.

22. Protein deficiency can cause serious health problems. For example, children with protein deficiency may develop a condition known as Kooshiorkor. Symptoms include protruding belly, thinning hair, weight loss and faded skin color. If the phenomenon is not treated properly, it can lead to stunted growth, mental disorders and even death.
23. Protein found in male semen acts on the female brain to stimulate ovulation.

24. For most people, the recommendation is to consume 1 gram of protein per 1 kg of their body weight. Example: A man weighing 80 kg, should consume at least 80 grams of protein each day.

25. Failure to absorb protein can cause diseases such as Alzheimer's and cancer.
26. Insects provide a higher quality form of protein compared to many common forms of food. For example, 100 grams of beef steak contain 29 grams of protein and 21 fats - on the other hand, 100 grams of grasshopper contain 20 grams of protein and only 6 grams of fat.

27. Complete protein is a protein that contains all nine essential amino acids. In most cases (but not all) animal protein such as beef, chicken, fish, dairy products and eggs, is considered a complete protein. Incomplete protein sources for example are nuts and vegetables.

28. Protein intake affects the body in many ways. Mainly: bone cell synthesis, production of red blood cells, heart cells turnover rate, neurotransmitters responsible for mood, antibody immune function, producing enzymes and hormones, flexibility, muscle, organ function and balance of acidity.

29. Middle-aged people don't have the more flexible body of young people, which means they need to consume much more protein. But middle-age rate of acid production Hhidroclorit helps digest the protein down to half rate. Because protein is essential for cell regeneration, a large part of the researchers argue that this main reason for aging.

The “Dragons” in my garden.

 I’m referring of course to my Dragon Fruits (DF) aka Pitaya. As a keen fruit and vegetable gardener I have become an accidental Dragon Fruit grower. My neighbour went to a plant sale at Masters. Their eye caught a special bargain with a lot of 20 different plants and they bought it. When they started to plant them they found a DF plant among them and didn’t have any idea what it really was or what to do with it.  So they offered it to me. I had no idea about this fruit either, but being me, I was ready to take on a new challenge.

I stood in front of a steep learning curve. Google helped me with some the basics. So I found a good spot and planted it and put a stick beside it for it to grow up on it. I made some phone enquiries looking for a grower to get more advice from, and I got the phone number of Dawn Meneikys in Mossman 60 Km north from here, and I contacted her. She has been growing this fruit for many years and invited me to come and see her – which I did. Dawn told me everything I needed to know about DF growing.

However, I was amazed to see how many DF plants she had in her backyard. But what I realised immediately was, that the stick I put beside my plant was not strong enough to support a mature plant.  So I bought a big round 2. 4 metre post at Bunning’s; mounted a timber crossbar on the top of it and cemented it in the ground.

A lot of TLC followed. After 18 month, the plant started to flower for the first time, and that was November 2014; May 2015 ended the fruiting season and I have harvested in that time 32 Dragon Fruits. And from the offshoots I have now two more growing; the second one has already produced six fruits.

Although the DF belongs in the cactus family, its treatment is different from the cactus that grows in arid areas and dry deserts. The DF needs a good nourishing soil; it needs water and fertiliser, preferably an organic one. I use the organic chicken pellets, and in the growing season fortnightly apply foliar spray with “Charley Carp” – diluted 10 m/l to one litre of water. The best time to do this is either very early in the morning or in the late afternoon. At this the time the plants open their pores.

In my research I also found that this fruit is nutritious and has many health benefits. It is needless to say that I enjoy eating them, put the flesh in my breakfast and include them in fruit smoothies.

The flower of the DF is a sight to behold.  Not many will see this spectacle as it only flowers

at night, and wilts with sunlight in the morning. The wilted flower often stays on fruit till it is ready to harvest. The flower is really a “One Night Wonder”. 

This fruit can be grown from Northern NSW to North Queensland.
  So, if you have a spare spot in your backyard I recommend that you plant one - you will not regret it.  You have nothing to lose, and it may improve your health. One important fact that you have to know is; you would want one that is self pollinating, otherwise you need several other plants for cross pollination. There are two varieties, red flesh and white flesh, mine has the red flesh, and there is no difference in the health or nutritional benefits. But some people say the red fleshed one has more flavour. Why do we have so much illness in our country?

In my young years I hardly ever saw a doctor for an illness - only ever for a broken bone or an injury. Today our hospitals are full to the hilt with sick people, and so are our doctor’s waiting rooms. A few years back you could get a doctor’s appointment on the day you rang, but today you may be lucky to get to see one in a week or more. The emergency services are often overwhelmed and ambulances are banking up because the hospital has no empty beds. So the question begs: Why do we have so much sickness, especially cancer in our country?

Well, there are a many theories floating around. Like air pollution, pesticides and additives in our food, genetically modified food etc. But nobody has found a definitive reason as to why we have so much sickness and the drug companies laugh all the way to the bank. Doctors just prescribe drugs in the hope of curing the disease, but nobody seems to be interested in finding the cause of the many health problems.

Very few people, it seems, have suspected that perhaps our electronic devices emitting Electromagnetic Radiation may have an effect on human health.  I have read a lot about this, like the book “Silent Fields” and that convinced me that Electro Magnetic Radiation is not clean and could possible contribute to our health problems. Wherever you go, people walk around with Smartphones and other electronic devices. The following article is certainly food for thought, and it comes from a person who is an expert in this field.Those radio waves penetrate concrete and steel, so they must also penetrate our bodies.     Safety Code 6 plus Corruption = An Emerging Genocide!
 Distinguished international scientists and leading health researchers in the recondite science of non-ionizing radiation know that the most dangerous threat to human health – EVER – is the ongoing, unchecked proliferation of wireless radio devices, such as Smart Meters, baby monitors, cell phones, cell phone towers, cordless phones, Wi-Fi routers, Wi-Fi and WiMAX installations (which can blanket entire major cities!), GPS, Bluetooth, tablet and laptop computers, Interactive TV games, RFIDs, etc., all of which emit toxic “low-level, pulsed, non-thermal radio frequency (RF) radiation”! For clarity, “microwaves” are electromagnetic waves with frequencies between 300 MHz (0.3 GHz) and 300 GHz in the RF spectrum, which spans from 3 kHz to 300 GHz.

 I am a retired Canadian Armed Forces captain who spent 22 of my 26 years in the military in the arcane fields of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT). At the zenith of my career, I was the Executive Officer and Operations Officer at one of Canada’s largest and most sensitive intelligence-gathering stations, where for two years I personally directed some 200-plus specially-trained radio operators and technicians. Subsequently, I was posted into National Defense Headquarters (NDHQ), Ottawa, into the Directorate of Electronic Warfare (DEW). In this two-year period, I worked closely with U.S., Canadian and NATA army E.W. units, completed a lengthy NATO army EW officers’ course in Anzio, Italy and participated in a major NATO army EW field exercise in the Black Forest of Germany. Earlier in my career, I conducted EW aboard two Canadian warships in exercises with Canadian, U.S. and other international naval allies. My bread and butter for more than 22 years was the radio frequency (RF) spectrum.

 Military History.

 All governments need to realize that, since at least the 1950s, Soviet/Russian and U.S. Militaries have each spent vast sums of money painstakingly studying and cataloguing all RF frequencies to determine which are the most harmful to humans! The Soviets irradiated the U.S. Embassy in Moscow for 23 years (1953-1976) for just 6-8 hours a day, five days a week, using similar frequencies, similar modulations, and even less power than are used in today’s Smart Meters, baby monitors, cell phones, etc.! Even though the Embassy was irradiated for what amounted to just 25% of the time, three U.S. ambassadors died: two from cancer, one from Leukemia-like symptoms; 16 women developed breast cancer, and most other staff suffered illnesses of some sort. The U.S. military responded by launching its Project Pandora (1954-1971), from which they too learned which specific frequencies, with which modulations, at what power densities had the most devastating effects on humans – which included: cancers, heart attacks, hysteria, trauma, suicides, etc.

 Governments need to realize that all modern militaries now possess ever-expanding arsenals of EW weapons, which use precisely the same RF frequencies that inexcusably ignorant Industry Canada today permits wireless and telecom companies, and now utilities, to utilize in their wireless products (see below)! Militaries have long known that:

 •Microwaves are the “perfect” weapon, for one cannot hear, see, smell, taste or feel them, plus they leave no trace of evidence!
 •Frequencies within the band 900 MHz (or 0.9 GHz) to 5 GHz are the most lethal against humans because they penetrate more deeply all organ systems of the body and therefore put all human organs at risk!  (Yet Industry Canada has authorized baby monitors, Smart Meters and all of today’s other wireless devices to operate in this very band of frequencies!)

 •‘Pulsed’ radiation is more harmful to humans than is “continuous wave” radiation.
(Yet Industry Canada permits today’s wireless products to emit pulsed radiation!)

 •The harmful effects of EMR (electromagnetic radiation) are cumulative; they add up!

 •Certain frequencies are unique in that the weakest levels of radiation, for reasons unknown, cause more harm to humans than does more powerful radiation.

 •Soviet/Russian scientists produced thousands of studies, which were offered to the West, showing that non-thermal radiation (the kind emitted by today’s wireless products) is harmful to all life forms. Both the corrupt WHO (World Health Organization) and ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) – who study only thermal radiation – refused the offer, thus denying Western scientists the opportunity to learn about non-thermal radiation from the Soviet/Russian studies!

Distinguished scientists and leading health researchers around the globe know that:
•There is no such thing as a ‘safe’ threshold of radiation; the only ‘safe’ level is zero!

 •The non-thermal RF radiation (also called EMR) emitted by all wireless devices is cumulative; it all combines and blends together, like an ever-thickening fog!

 •Non-thermal EMR causes, promotes or is linked to the exponential rise in all of today’s major illnesses, including all cancers, ADHD, asthma, Multiple Sclerosis, leukemia, Alzheimer’s, dementia, Autism, ADD, Parkinson’s, ALS, etc. (Yet Health Canada refuses to admit this!)

 •Cancers and other major diseases have a latency period of 10-15 years or more!

 •Cell phones have never been tested for ‘safety’ in any jurisdiction to prove they can be used by and/or around people on a continuous 24/7/365 basis, in perpetuity)!

 •In 1984, the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) exempted cell phones from having to undergo mandatory ‘pre-market’ testing because industry convinced them that cell phone radiation was too weak to be of concern. This opened the flood-gates for today’s constellation of wireless devices, including Smart Meters, all of which use the same technology on similar frequencies!

 •Not one peer-reviewed scientific study exists – anywhere – showing that cell phones are safe!

 •The U.S. Cell phone industry’s own six-year study ($28.5-million USD, in ’93-’99) showed they are not safe!

 •All cell phone Owner Manuals contain, in very fine print, warnings for the user not to hold the phone closer than, in the case of Blackberry – 0.98”; Apple – 5/8”; Motorola – 1” from any part of the body – not just the head!

 •Since 2001 Motorola, Nokia, Siemens and other cell phone companies have taken out global patents that acknowledge cell phone radiation can lead to cancers!

•Wireless and cell phone companies, and electric utilities cannot get insurance against health-related claims attributed to wireless radiation!

 •In 2010, CTIA’s (Cellular Telecommunications Internet Association)’s own Sr. VP External and State Affairs told a public audience in California: “I have not told you once, not once, that cell phones are safe; The FCC is telling you they are safe!” (CTIA is the industry’s association that lobbies all levels of government across the U.S. on behalf of its members)

 It is absolutely frightening to realize how completely inept and negligent the Government of Canada has been since the 1980s in fulfilling its duty to protect the public from the toxic non-thermal EMR” emitted by wireless radio devices! Aside from Health Canada – who are notoriously corrupt, dating back to the 1970s – not one competent senior health authority exists – either in Ottawa or in any of the provinces – who has any meaningful knowledge of or expertise in this form of radiation – which is literally everywhere today! This means that: No provincial Minister of Health; No provincial senior public health officer (PHO); No national Chief PHO; No member of Canada’s “Pan-Canadian Public Health Network”; Nor, I suspect, any senior member of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) is capable of protecting the Canadian public, because they are all ignorant of non-thermal EMR – which Health Canada steadfastly insists does not harm people! Shocking! Disgraceful! Absolutely criminal!

 It is impossible to exaggerate the unprecedented danger all Canadians find themselves in today (as is the case for most people in the world), which could not possibly have happened had this admittedly recondite subject matter (non-ionizing radiation) been taught to aspiring medical doctors in medical schools; been recognized or understood by the CMA; or had our series of national Chief PHOs been selected more carefully. With no one to provide oversight, Health Canada continues to be able to do much as it pleases. One has only to Google: “Michael Repacholi, World Health Organization, Corruption,” to gain a glimpse of the corruption just one scientist brought, not only to Health Canada, but to ICNIRP and then to the WHO itself! Another glimpse can be had by Googling: “Health Canada, Conflict of Interest, Sharon Noble.”

 All governments in Canada and the public need to also note that, with no competent health authority to question or challenge its decisions, Health Canada has been free to promulgate a ‘one size fits all’ radiation Exposure Limit in Safety Code 6, which applies to all Canadians – regardless of size or the state of one’s health! It makes no distinction between tiny developing embryos, pregnant women, newborn babies, children, normal-sized adults, huge men and women, the sick and elderly! Yet scientists have known for years that a baby’s skull absorbs at least five (5) times as much radiation as does an adult’s!

 All levels of government, all health care authorities across Canada, and the CMA itself need to wake up and realize that both Health Canada and Industry Canada are – and have been for decades – deeply embedded with what has become a corrupt cartel of the four radiation Regulatory Agencies: WHO, ICNIRP, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). All share similar egregiously high radiation Exposure Limits – which are amongst the highest/most dangerous in the world! All have strong ties to the electricity industry! Further reading:
 Neither Health Canada nor any of its corrupt cartel colleagues will recognize (admit) that:
 •Non-thermal EMR can be harmful to humans and all life forms! (Their collective position is: “If the radiation does not heat the skin, it cannot be harmful”!)

•Powerline (60 Hz) electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are harmful to people!
(Scientists say that a safe ambient level of EMFs in a home would be not more than 1 mG (milliGauss)! They’ve known for decades that an ambient level of just 3-4 mG causes Leukemia in children! Russia allows up to 1.5 mG; Sweden, up to 2.5 mG!
Note: Contrast the above with all members of the ‘Western cartel; who are tied to the electricity industry: Health Canada – says EMFs have not been proven harmful, and therefore it allows EMFs up to 1,000 m’G! IEEE – allows up to 10,000 mG! ICNIRP and WHO – both allow 2,000 mG for short term exposure in residences, and up to 9,000 mG for short term occupational exposure!

Governments must no longer ignore what the Soviet/Russian and U.S. Militaries learned from their seven-decades-long exhaustive research: a) microwaves are the perfect military weapon; b) low-level, pulsed, non-thermal radiation – at even the weakest levels – is harmful to all living things; and, c) the most lethal frequencies within the entire RF band are between 900 MHz to 5 GHz – and are particularly lethal to a human’s central nervous system and immune system. Any EMR emitted on microwave frequencies is a potential weapon – not a consumer product!

 That Industry Canada could see fit to permit today’s wireless radio devices, such as Smart Meters, baby monitors, cell phones, etc., to utilize the above-mentioned band of lethal frequencies speaks volumes for their gross ignorance of what militaries have long known. There exist today literally thousands of studies done by honest scientists from around the world showing that any wireless radio device is harmful to people, flora and fauna! The evidence is simply too compelling. In all decency, it must no longer be ignored!

 In closing, I have evidence to support everything I have said above. My earnest hope is that each of you is now better able to understand today’s reality. One cannot exaggerate the scale and scope of today’s corruption — that now literally threatens the entire globe! Unless you and other honest elected officials elsewhere put a stop to this insanity, mankind’s worst-ever genocide will become a reality! I am available to answer questions. Thank you for your time.

Enzymes are an important factor for good health.

On my morning walk I was stopped by a local for a chat. “Why are you so energetic and apparently in such good health for your age?” she asked.  I replied, “I’m not sure, but good nutrition, not sitting still for long periods and exerting my muscles in various ways to keep fit, and engaging my brain may be some of the key factors.  And, I grow my own organically grown veggies, bananas, pineapples and paw paws, all full of good nutrients, enzymes and free of pesticides." So I told her about the importance of enzymes for good health. I mentioned an article by Jo Hartley, a writer for Natural News, and promised I would publish it on my blog.

We also talked about the fruit and vegetables at supermarkets that come not only from Australia, but also from other countries, which have been irradiated  and sprayed with toxic pesticides. Further health danger lurks if the growers use Roundup for weed control in the fields where they grow their fruits and vegetables, as it contaminates the soil with Glyphosate, and that can have dire health consequences. My advice:
Buy organically grown fruit and veggies if you can, or grow your own. Take time to read labels and, eat less processed food or avoid it altogether. If you are not on a totally raw food diet you should take digestive enzyme supplements with every meal, I was told by a dietician. I wish you all good health. – Werner

Not only are enzymes necessary for proper digestion, they are an integral component of every chemical reaction that occurs within the body. Without enzymes no bodily processes would be possible. For example, detoxification, digestion, elimination, and a properly-functioning nervous system are all processes that would not occur without enzymes. This is the reason that enzymes are considered the most important supplement today, and everyone reading this can experience improved health if enzyme supplementation is begun.

Most people assume that they are getting adequate amounts of enzymes in their diet. This is not true because unless one is consuming a raw diet, the food consumed has no enzymes. Cooked foods do not contain active enzymes.

Even people who consume healthy diets are not getting adequate enzymes to enable proper digestion. In addition, the necessary rebuilding, detoxing and general maintenance of the body will not be possible either because raw foods only contain the enzymes necessary for simple digestion. There are no surplus enzymes.

An enzyme-depleted body will not be able to heal properly because the number of enzymes necessary for healing is huge. In addition to this, stress has been found to be a big source of enzyme depletion. When under undue stress, the body is unable to generate the necessary metabolic enzymes.

Another source of enzyme depletion that many people suffer is because they consume processed foods that have been irradiated or that contain additives. Consuming these foods places stress on the body's ability to make the enzymes necessary to stay healthy. Caffeine is also another major enzyme zapper.

The body is able to produce its own enzymes. Unfortunately this ability decreases with age, however. The human body was designed to live in clean, natural environments while consuming raw foods. Since most people do not live this way, people are experiencing accelerated aging and poor health. This enzyme depletion exhibits itself in general signs of aging like wrinkles and joint pain. Simple enzyme supplementation can make the difference between an uncomfortable decline and aging gracefully and painlessly.

Once enzyme supplementation is begun, one should allow up to three weeks for the body to adjust to the supplementation and for benefits to become apparent. Enzyme supplementation is more of a lifestyle change and a detoxification process and it takes time for the body to adjust. Expect appetite fluctuations during this time but the appetite will normalize to a level to support normal body weight eventually.

Also, allow time for the body to heal and become strong. There is not a maximum dosage of plant enzymes and there are no counteractions known. Once enzyme supplementation is begun, often foods that previously produced allergic reactions will not continue to create these adverse reactions. It is prudent to be cautious with these foods before reintroducing them into the diet in large amounts, however.

If foods produced severe or life-threatening reactions previously, proceed with extreme caution. Food allergies are the body's response to an ingredient that it cannot sufficiently break down or digest for utilization. Once the necessary enzymes for this digestion are present within the body, the allergies will often decrease or go away completely.

When the body is placed under undue stress because of illness, the environment, poor diet, or a combination of all of these things the body simply becomes exhausted over time. With this exhaustion comes an immune system that doesn't function properly and this further depletes the body's enzymes. Detoxification and renewal may take time, but with proper supplementation of digestive enzymes the body will heal and optimal health can be achieved.
